Have you ever walked by a commercial space and thought…wow the front of their store looks absolutely amazing? Chances are they put a little extra TLC into welcoming their guests or potential shoppers to their door. Why not have your home entrance or outdoor space look equally amazing! Container gardens make it possible for anyone and everyone to have a green thumb. They are low maintenance with a very high reward.
Choosing the container or decorative pot is half the battle-you can choose a pot that you already have on hand or we have a variety that we sell here at our Garden Center. My personal favorite is a modern ceramic pot with geometric elements that can enhance a contemporary space or any space where you would love an extra burst of color.
If a statement piece is what you are looking for…why not choose this super cool faccia natural cast stone planter ( who says picasso can’t find be found in the garden)? A conversation piece for many years to come and a piece of art in itself.
All that being said, even if you have an ordinary pot or classic urn hanging around, once filled with colorful plants it will breathe new life into your outdoor space. Keep in mind when you are filling your pots that you adopt the companion planting method, what this means is that you choose a combination of plants that have similar needs…for example, you never want to combine plants that need full shade with plants that need full sun in the same pot. An interesting container garden would typically include texture as well as color and a bit of drama as featured below. Whether you are planting your own container gardens or having Cedar Grove Gardens plant them up for you, I sure hope you will have fun with them and transition them from season to season.

written by Janet Harrold It’s prom season yay! Corsages have really changed over the years and flowers have become a true fashion accessory, if you are not sure what to […]
A new year, a new you and more importantly…new flowers… every month for a year! It has been said that flowers bring joy and happiness to both the person giving as well as the person receiving them.
Do you know someone who is going through a rough time? Maybe you are newly married, newly engaged or maybe you are just head over heels in love! Just as the ever popular slogan says “Flowers say it best” they really do. Sending beautiful fresh flowers on a consecutive basis is a gift that most will undoubtedly enjoy. “Additionally, scientific research shows that flowers and plants have a beneficial impact on state of mind and emotions. Rutgers University behavioral studies have proven that flowers provide a simple way to improve emotional health-that the presence of flowers triggers happy emotions, heightens feelings of life satisfaction and affects social behavior in a positive manner far beyond what is normally believed.
Call the shop today and schedule your local flower delivery. There is no obligation to send flowers for the entire year, we also offer 3 and 6 month packages where we waive the delivery fee.

As many of you already know one of Cedar Grove Gardens very own floral designer’s got married over the fall. Tajah, who came to us from a florist in Seattle quickly nestled into the important role of design manager here at the shop. I’d say the pressure to capture and create the vision of such a seasoned floral designer on the biggest day of her life was on, but of course the staff here just looked upon it as an opportunity to shine, and shine they did as they transformed this city girl’s dream into a breathe of beautiful farm air. With Tajah calling Seattle her home and Rachel serving time in the Navy, for many of their family and friends The Mount Hope Farm in Bristol Rhode Island was the perfect destination wedding!
The day began with Tajah’s first look at her uniquely designed bridal bouquet, the celosia, sahara roses, magnolia leaves, gerbera daisy, gumphrina and the whimsy and elegance of the hanging amaranthus was enough to bring tears to her eyes.
another look at her stunning bouquet after she was dressed
Placed here on the field stone wall ali rosa photography captured it just perfectly. The wall runs the length of the farmhouse to a cabin that overlooks Mount Hope Bridge
So happy and thrilled to have all of their family and friends in one location, their bridal party and guests came together to show their love and support for this special union. A couple of Rachel’s bridesmaids were dear friends from the Navy. Family and friends reunited from California, Seattle, Texas, and Ohio, while other guests visited from Florida, Tennessee, Massachusetts and Wisconsin.
The rustic farmhouse tables were absolutely gorgeous, boasting with a textural greenery and fruit garland filled with delicious pomegranates, grapes, apples, seeded eucalyptus, variegated pittsoforum and p.g. hydrangea. The ambiance that the footed candlesticks provided added just the right amount of romantic glow and warm lighting to dazzle the room for such a formal affair.
Unfortunately Rachel’s mother is no longer with us, so we embraced the idea of adding her mom’s favorite flower (gerbera daisy’s) to the gift table as a personal touch to the day so that her presence could be felt through the flowers as well.
That magic moment…they closed the evening with a toast and a thank you to their guests for making their day so memorable. A great time was had by all who attended and continued even after the wedding day as they enjoyed their quality time with family before heading off to beautiful Puerto Rico for their honeymoon…Oh and did you catch a glance at those beautiful burlap and metal urns filled with a plethora of natural curly willow branches!
I love when our Bride’s share their photo’s with us, these are from a summer wedding that we were honored to do the flowers for … not only do I appreciate the beautiful flowers, but it’s a cold winter’s day here only a high of 30 degrees so i’m really longing for the sunshine that I see reflecting in the pictures. The Bouquet’s were designed with a soft luscious mix of summer flowers such as Peonies, Roses, Lisianthus and Queen Anne’s Lace. The collar of Dusty Miller and Feathery variety of Eucalyptus completes the garden style look that these bouquets possess.
I especially love how these wondrous bouquets “pop” against the blue dresses.
The aerial view of our centerpieces were captured just perfectly by their photographer
another view shows off our silvery mercury glass compote, and how delicately the ivy trails over the edge…
and at the end of the day it really is all about the fun that you have on this very formal day…I just can’t believe how high these girls can jump!

The holiday’s are such an exciting and magical time of year for everyone. When they are over we tend to get a little melancholy. As florist we really try to embrace all that the Holiday Season has to offer and we want to be able to offer you our most creative and beautiful creations. Many of our customers have mentioned that Cedar Grove Gardens is magical at Christmas time and with all of the hard work and dedication that goes into creating beautiful store displays, decorating for our corporate accounts, creating the most magnificent wreaths and floral displays and all of the major and minor details that are involved even behind the scenes, we are so very grateful for the recognition. We are also grateful for you, our loyal customer. We have been in business now for 35 years and though our staff is the backbone of our company, we didn’t get here on our talent alone. In fact we have quite a number of customers that have been coming to us for the entire 35 years that we have been in business. Some have had their wedding flowers done by us many years ago, and now their children come to us for their wedding flowers, it’s long standing customers like you that have made it all possible. For our clients that frequent our shop every holiday, whether it be flowers for your mother or wife on Mother’s Day or a Thanksgiving centerpiece, we enjoy seeing you and getting to know you on a personal level as you also know most of us. If you are the one time shopper who was just passing through town and stopped in to our hidden gem to browse around, skim our selection of beautiful finds and take in the blissful aroma of our fresh cut flowers, we are thankful to you as well.
